PLN

The personal learning network (PLN) I have produced showcases the various connections and resources discovered related and relevant to my own professional context at the present moment. The PLN possesses both strengths from initial resource gathering to the finalized PLN map, and areas in need of future development and expansion.

My PLN highlights several strengths, from development to final product. My PLN planning included gathering information and choosing resources and connections to help stay current with developments in my particular field (Green, 2020). It also has several connections through social media tools to be able to connect to a wide range of people and practitioners (Green, 2020), including Twitter and LinkedIn. In addition, the resources chosen relate to my current and emerging areas of interests connected to my profession (Scott, 2018). Furthermore, it includes resources and connections that offer the opportunity to contribute my own information and expertise by actively participating as opposed to just lurking (Green, 2020).

There are also several areas of my final PLN map that need further development and expansion. It does not include individuals from other parts of the organization I work for. Having a good spread of colleagues and co-workers from other areas to draw on would help improve the understanding of business challenges (Scott, 2020). In addition, my PLN would benefit from additional external perspectives (Scott, 2020), as they could provide additional and/or alternative methodologies and material to use in the classroom, as well as insight into trends in other areas that could relate to my own work.

Going forward, it is important that I contribute to my PLN to avoid stagnation (Green, 2020) through active participation. Furthermore, I need to make sure I stay on top of my resources and tend my PLN, adding new interesting resources and removing resources that are no longer useful to ensure my PLN serves my resources and connections needs (Green, 2020).
